Diego Rolan scored a goal in each half as Bordeaux won their final game at Stade Chaban-Delmas with a 2-1 Ligue 1 victory over Nantes on Saturday.

Jordan Veretout put Nantes ahead thanks to a penalty in the 15th minute before Les Girondins levelled, also from the spot, through Rolan shortly after.

Rolan came up with the winner for the home side after the break as the club gave the perfect send-off for long-serving defender Marc Planus who was playing his last game in a 13-year career, all of which he spent at Bordeaux.

It was Nantes who started the brightest on the night, with Cedric Carrasso called in to make the first save in the 13th minute when Ismael Bangoura released Valentin Rongier, who took a shot from distance.

Nantes had a better chance shortly after, though, when Mariano brought down Bangoura in the area to concede a penalty. Midfielder Veretout stepped up and sent a powerful shot past Carrasso, who had dived the wrong way.

Bordeaux were back on level terms five minutes later thanks to Rolan after Nantes gave away a penalty when defender Oswaldo Vizcarrondo handled the ball in the box.

Rolan stepped up and took the spot-kick, sending his strike to the left as Nantes keeper Remy Riou guessed right as the scores were levelled within the first 20 minutes.

The only other real chance of the half came for Bordeaux five minutes before the break when Isaac Thelin found Clement Chantome near the penalty area, who controlled the ball then sent a volley towards Riou, who punched clear with both fists.

Nantes had a good effort five minutes into the second period when Rongier sent a speculative 20-yard strike towards goal which Carrasso saved.

Bordeaux then hit the post through Wahbi Khazri's right-footed volley as they searched to take the lead but they did not have to wait much longer as Rolan made the breakthrough in the 68th minute.

Nicolas Maurice-Belay launched a counter-attack for the hosts and passed the ball to striker Enzo Crivelli, who flicked it on to Rolan inside the box for a close-range finish.

That was how the match ended, with Bordeaux's bid for Europa League football still alive and well.
