Burton captain Jake Buxton may have a job on his hands to win a place back in the side for Friday's clash with Portsmouth, even if he is able to shake off a calf strain in time.
The 34-year-old sustained the injury late on in the draw at Sunderland last week and made way for Kieran Wallace in Saturday's 3-0 win at Scunthorpe. Wallace, who can play in both midfield and defence, capitalised on his opportunity by opening the scoring.
Burton are on a five-match unbeaten run but look unlikely to mount a late Sky Bet League One play-off challenge, with nine points to make up in only four games.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, look set to welcome back Andy Cannon and Viv Solomon-Otabor. Midfielder Cannon has not played for the first team since suffering a thigh injury three months ago but made another appearance for the reserves on Tuesday and came through unscathed.
Solomon-Otabor also played in that fixture and boss Kenny Jackett anticipates having the winger available following a calf injury. Pompey currently sit fourth, two points adrift of the automatic-promotion places but with a game in hand over the top two. They do, however, trail third-placed Sunderland - who have the same number of points and have played the same number of games - on goal difference.
Opta stats
This will be the sixth league meeting between Burton and Portsmouth, with their record even after both sides winning once and drawing the other three.
Portsmouth won in their first ever match against Burton in September 2013, a 2-1 victory at the Pirelli Stadium - since then, Pompey are winless in four (D3 L1).
Burton are winless in their four Football League games played on Good Friday (D2 L2), losing each of the last two in 2017 and 2018.
Portsmouth are without a victory in their last 13 Good Friday league matches away from home (D7 L6), last winning 3-0 against Arsenal in April 1951.
Burton's Liam Boyce has been directly involved in five goals in his last four league appearances (3 goals, 2 assists); as many as in his previous 20.
Prutton's prediction
Portsmouth are flying again. If it wasn't for such a frustrating dip in January and February they would be right up there with Luton in the hunt for the League One title. That being said, automatic promotion is still well within their grasp.
Burton are in cracking form themselves, but have left it too late to reach the play-offs now. They will want to keep their momentum going but I think this one will be a draw.
David Prutton predicts: 2-2 (14/1 with Sky Bet)
