Cambridge put their poor home form behind them with a superb 4-0 win against Exeter.
Luke Hannant made the breakthrough seven minutes before half time, seeing his effort take an enormous deflection as the ball looped over Jonny Maxted and into the net.
Exeter looked set to equalise in the 52nd minute as Lee Martin ran through on goal only to be denied by a superb Elliott Ward tackle, while seconds later Hannant dragged wide after being played in by Kyle Knoyle at the other end.
Cambridge doubled their lead in the 57th minute as Smith rolled the ball back for Jack Roles, who slotted home off the post with a shot from the edge of the box.
Moments after Paul Lewis had hit the bar, George Taft made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute, volleying home after Maxted had saved Ward's effort.
Four minutes from full-time Hannant's looping shot should have been easy for Maxted, only for the keeper to palm it back out for Andrew Dallas to turn in his first goal for the club.
