Sporting Lisbon profited from some dreadful goalkeeping to come away from Dynamo Kiev with a 2-1 win. Kiev keeper Alexander Shovkovsky was at fault for both the Portuguese side's goals. The visitors took a 14th minute lead when Yannick Djalo swung a teasing ball in with his left foot which Shovkovsky challenged for with Sporting's Antonio Tonel. The visitors' defender raised his foot as he went for the cross but the home keeper could only push the ball against Tonel and into the net. The home side levelled when they gave the experienced Vladislav Vaschuk too much time and space in the area. The Kiev defender picked up Goran Gavrancic's clever backheel and had plenty of opportunity to pick his spot and fire the ball between Correa Anderson Polga's legs and into the net.

Fault

But Polga had the last laugh as he put Sporting back into the lead seven minutes before half-time. Again Shovkovsky was at fault as he flapped at De Ronny's corner, pushing it straight out to Polga who made no mistake. The Portuguese could have gone further ahead five minutes after the break but this time Shokkovsky saved - albeit in eccentric fashion - from the onrushing Yanick Djalo. At the other end, Vladimir Stojikovic saved at full stretch from Carlos Correa to preserve the away side's lead as the hosts pushed in vain for a second equaliser.
