Gianluigi Buffon returned to action as Juventus secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Catania. Buffon has been sidelined for seven months following back surgery but was a typically reassuring presence in goal as Juve kept their cup dream alive. Both sides went into the clash in poor form after losing their last two Serie A matches, but Juve bounced back in style to return to winning ways. Milos Krasic broke the deadlock ten minutes before half-time and Simone Pepe doubled their advantage on 54 minutes. Catania fought hard in an effort to get back into the tie but Juve held firm to reach the last eight. Luigi Del Neri's men will be joined in the quarter-finals by holders Inter Milan, Parma and Palermo, with the line-up to be completed next week after the four remaining games in the round of 16.
