Hibernian have released Estonian striker Henri Anier back to Dundee United after electing to cut short his season-long loan in Edinburgh.

The 25-year-old joined Hibs in August, but made just three substitute appearances for Alan Stubbs' side, the first of which did not come until December 12 against Falkirk.

The recent arrival of former Leyton Orient striker Chris Dagnall at Easter Road has allowed Stubbs to release Anier from his squad.

He will now return to Tannadice to join Mixu Paatelainen's side's on-going fight for Premiership survival.
