Alex Baptiste joins Sheffield United on loan from Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough defender Alex Baptiste will spend the remainder of the season on loan with Sheffield United.

The 30-year-old only joined Boro in the summer from Bolton but he suffered a double leg break just 22 minutes into his debut in a pre-season friendly.

Baptiste, who lists Blackburn, Bolton and Blackpool among his former employers, is yet to feature for Boro's first team but the Sky Bet Championship club do have a recall clause attached to the deal which they can trigger after 28 days.

"We are delighted to be able to bring Alex in," Blades boss Nigel Adkins said on his club's official website.
