Former Liverpool, Celtic and Blackburn centre-back Stephane Henchoz has been appointed manager of the club where he began his career in Switzerland.
The 44-year-old has been named manager of Neuchatel Xamax after stepping up from his role as assistant to Michel Decastel, who was sacked on Tuesday.
Henchoz takes over a side struggling to avoid relegation from the Swiss Super League, sitting bottom of the top flight.
The former Switzerland international played 205 matches over six seasons for Liverpool after joining the Reds from Blackburn in 1999.
He won four major trophies during his time on Merseyside including a cup treble in 2001.
Henchoz retired from playing football in 2008 after leaving Blackburn Rovers for a second time.
