John Murphy has completed his move from Chester City to Irish side St Patrick's Athletic.
The 31-year-old striker has signed for an undisclosed fee after passing a medical in Dublin.
"I first heard of St Pats' interest on Saturday and to be honest it came as a bit of a surprise," he told the club's official website.
"Having spoken to Richard (Sadlier) and Johnny (McDonnell) I was very impressed with the club's ambition.
"I'm looking forward to helping the club challenge for the league title and hopefully playing in Uefa Cup, should tomorrow's (Thursday's) game go to plan."
Chester manager Simon Davies is now thought to be on the lookout for a replacement ahead of the new League Two season.
