Euro 2016 was not ideal for out-and-out strikers, says Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman has leapt to the defence of Romelu Lukaku and other out-and-out strikers who struggled to perform at Euro 2016.
One of Koeman's priorities this summer, as the new Everton boss, will be to hold onto Lukaku after the forward's 18 goals in the Premier League last season sparked rumours of a move.
The Belgium international bagged two goals for his country in the tournament, against the Republic of Ireland in the group stages, and Koeman believes the nature of the competition made it difficult for any of the centre forwards to shine.
"Everyone accepts there was a lack of goals and thrilling attacking football at Euro 2016," Koeman told the Mirror.
"My theory is that this wasn't a great tournament for an outstanding number nine to prove his world class talent.
"The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mario Gomez, Olivier Giroud and Harry Kane are all fine players.
"Giroud threatened to grab centre-stage as France marched towards the final, but none of them delivered what a truly great tournament requires - a striker who is lethal, unstoppable and in breathtaking form."
Lukaku's father sparked transfer rumours in March when he suggested his son was ready to leave Goodison Park this summer.
The 23-year-old scored 25 goals in 46 appearances last season as well as providing seven assists.
Everton are currently in Austria at a two-week pre-season training camp with Lukaku due to link up with the squad once they return to England.
