Sporting Lisbon have signed Mattheus Oliveira, the inspiration behind his father Bebeto's famous celebration at the 1994 World Cup.

The 22-year-old was a newborn when Bebeto scored to put Brazil 2-0 up against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the tournament in the United States and performed his famous "rock the baby" celebration.

Oliveira has been playing in Portugal since 2015, when he originally joined Estoril on loan from Flamengo, and he would go on to join the club permanently last summer.

"I chose Sporting CP because of the greatness of the club," he told the club's website.

"I am very happy with this opportunity and I did not even think twice when the opportunity arose. Because of the history of this team and the players who have been here, I also want to create history at Sporting."
