Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the continental press to round up the latest transfer news from across Europe.

Italy

Agent Mino Raiola believes AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was very close to leaving the club. The Italy international was linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer before eventually signing a new contract. "There is nothing personal with them, but the problem is I do not believe in their project," says Raiola. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Massimiliano Allegri wants Italy to follow England's lead and shorten the summer transfer window. "I hope we will do the same thing," said the Juventus manager. "That would be good news, not just for me, but for everyone." (Various)

Spain

Sevilla insist they received no serious offers for reported Manchester City transfer target Steven N'Zonzi. "We were not going to sell any major player for less than their release clause," said Sevilla president Jose Castro. "His father has had attempts through his representative to move clubs, but the player is still here, we have done the necessary work to keep him." Chelsea and Juventus had shown interest in the former Blackburn midfielder this summer. (ABC de Sevilla)

Barcelona's poor transfer window has caused discontent at the club, after they failed to land several key signings this summer. Hector Bellerin, Marco Verratti, Philippe Coutinho, Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos were all linked with the Catalan side, but they failed to land any of these players before the deadline. Germany

Schalke forward Donis Avdijaj is still seeking a move after missing out on a transfer to Turkey. The Kosovo international striker could still move to Portugal, whose window remains open until September 22. (Kicker)

Timo Werner's form for Germany and RB Leipzig is attracting interest from across the continent, but Real Madrid are poised to make a "mega offer" for the striker. His team-mate Naby Keita leaves for Liverpool at the end of this season, and keeping hold of Werner could be the club's next challenge. (Sport1)

France

French forward Odsonne Edouard impressed for Celtic against Hamilton, but the on-loan PSG attacker will have to continue his good form if he's to convince PSG he has a future with them. Celtic have the option to buy the player at the end of his loan, so even if he plays well it will be up to the player to decide whether he stays in Scotland or returns to France. (L'Equipe)

After failed summer bids from Arsenal and Liverpool, Monaco's Thomas Lemar is now the star of the side; a status which will no doubt increase interest in him when the transfer window opens again. "Along with Fabinho, he [Lemar] is particularly important to us and has many qualities," said their manager Leonardo Jardim. "In addition, they have a strong mentality and are very regular over a season. I'm glad they stayed." (Le Parisien)
