Jordan Ayew lasted just 11 minutes of Swansea's clash with Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.
The Swansea forward was sent off for his high foot in a challenge on Terriers skipper Jonathan Hogg, with referee Michael Oliver waiting for both players to receive treatment before brandishing his red card.
Fortunately for Ayew, his team-mates put in a brilliant defensive performance to seal a 0-0 draw and gain a valuable point in their battle against relegation.
Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal said after the game he accepted the decision but questioned whether Hogg might have been punished for being equally robust in a 50-50 challenge that left both players in pain.
"I saw two players try to win the ball with exactly the same movements," he said. "They tackled each other, it was dangerous, but they both did it. We must respect the decision."
