Serge Gnabry is set to leave Arsenal on loan again before the transfer deadline, but manager Arsene Wenger wants him to sign a contract extension, Sky sources understand.
The 21-year-old winger signed a five-year deal in 2013. Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are interested and are expected to find out imminently whether their loan request has been accepted.
Gnabry has been playing for Germany at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, having represented his country at every youth level from U16 to U21.
He spent a portion of last season on loan at West Brom but made just three appearances and was subsequently recalled by Wenger, who believes the youngster has a future at the Emirates.
Gnabry joined Arsenal as a 16-year-old from Stuttgart in 2011 and has made 18 appearances, including five starts in the Premier League.
He made his last appearance for the Gunners against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16 in 2014.
