Bolton Wanderers 3-4 Burton Albion: Lucas Akins scores double
Wednesday 1 January 2020 18:57, UK
Lucas Akins scored twice as Burton recovered from 2-0 down after 10 minutes to register a 4-3 Sky Bet League One win at bottom side Bolton.
David Templeton and substitute Liam Boyce started and finished the scoring for Nigel Clough's side after Joe Dodoo and Daryl Murphy struck early for Wanderers.
The struggling home side, now 17 points from safety, also played with 10 men for 41 minutes.
Luke Murphy's second yellow card from referee Scott Oldham saw Keith Hill's strugglers finish a man down for a second successive home game.
When Northern Ireland international Boyce came off the bench to double Burton's advantage after 81 minutes, the contest looked over.
Instead, substitute Dennis Politic, who had already had one effort disallowed for offside, pulled a goal back with a low right-footed drive four minutes later.
The 10 men should have levelled in stoppage time but youngster Ronan Darcy fired over with keeper Kieran O'Hara struggling to get across his line.
