Manuel Pellegrini hopes to end West Ham’s ‘transition season’ with a ‘winning mentality’, starting with their trip to Tottenham on Saturday, live on Sky Sports

Manuel Pellegrini insists West Ham will go all out to become the first team to beat Tottenham at their new stadium.

The Hammers face Spurs on Saturday lunchtime, live on Sky Sports Premier League, and come up against the north Londoners who have won four matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without conceding a single goal.

The two sides have already met twice so far this season with Tottenham winning both encounters against a West Ham side who have not beaten them at home since 2013.

West Ham would also need to end a dismal away record, having not won on the road since the turn of the year, if they are to beat their London rivals.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, Pellegrini said: "Tottenham is a team that is doing a brilliant season. Maybe playing so many games, it is not easy for them.

"If we want to beat them we need to play a very good game. It is a big game. We have motivation also but after that we just have to play well, play as a big team.

"We are not going to go to their stadium to draw 0-0, we are going to be the team we have been the whole season."

Pellegrini says West Ham must improve on the number of goals they are conceding if they are to improve on what has been a 'transition season' for the east London side.

He said: "This is a transition season. It was a controversial season last time, this time it has been more quiet for us. We have had good moments and not so good where we started losing games at home.

"It is a season that we must consider good though we must improve. The amount of goals we concede is far too much.

"For the amount of goals we have conceded, it it is far too much. We have conceded nearly two goals in every game away from home this year, so it is almost impossible to win.

"This is just one thing that we need to improve.

"Last season we were fighting relegation until the last game, but this season we are eight or nine games and safe.

"But we want more and must try to reach the highest target we can."

The West Ham boss also revealed that the Hammers will be boosted by Manuel Lanzini, Javier Hernandez and Aaron Cresswell who are all back in training, but the Spurs game comes too soon for Samir Nasri who will not be available until next week after a calf problem.
