Manchester City midfielder Manu Garcia has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club until June 2020.

The 18-year-old Spaniard, who joined City's youth academy in 2013 and has made four senior appearances for the Premier League outfit, scoring one goal, is on a season-long loan with La Liga side Alaves.

City confirmed the extension on Thursday after Garcia had written on Twitter: "Really proud and happy to have signed a new deal with one of the biggest clubs in the world! Seguimos! @mancity #Mcfc."

Garcia's City appearances all came last term.

He featured twice as a substitute in the EFL Cup, scoring on the second occasion against Crystal Palace, started an FA Cup defeat to Chelsea in February and came on during a 4-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa in March.
