Monaco right-back Fabinho has held talks with Arsenal and both Manchester clubs, according to his father - and his preference is a transfer to City.
Fabinho's father Joao told French television programme Telefoot that he has spoken to three Premier League clubs over a potential move for his son, who is a key player in Monaco's defence.
He said: "We have talked to Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, we have even been approached by Barcelona, but it didn't go any further.
"We like Manchester United and the work of [Jose] Mourinho, but we have a little soft spot for City."
The 23-year-old defender has been used as a holding midfielder by the Ligue 1 side and has four international caps for Brazil.
He was previously with Portuguese club Rio Ave - who were once managed by Jose Mourinho's father - before a spell at Real Madrid during which he made just one senior appearance.
Fabinho has previously said he would like to play in England but for now he is remaining focused on his career with Monaco.
"I have a contract until 2021, but the Premier League is a league that interests me and maybe one day I will come and play here," the Brazilian said.
"I know my name was linked with more than one English club but I am happy at Monaco at the moment.
"He [his father] spoke about clubs that I might have been interested in in the past. It's not topical, I don't think about it at the moment."
