What records could Manchester City smash or match this season?

Pep Guardiola says his agent is not in Manchester to discuss a new contract for him

Manchester City have clinched the Premier League title with five games remaining - but what records have they broken this season? And which records are in their sights?

The victory over Tottenham on Saturday coupled with Manchester United's defeat to West Brom on Sunday means that Pep Guardiola's side have won the title with five games to spare - matching the Premier League record.

But there are other records that City have smashed this season, and seven more that are still up for grabs. Below, we run through the records within City's reach...

RECORDS SMASHED

CONSECUTIVE PREMIER LEAGUE WINS

CITY TOTAL: 18

PREVIOUS RECORD: 13

PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea

From Raheem Sterling's last-gasp winner at Bournemouth on August 26 until City's 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on New Year's Eve, they won 18 Premier League games in a row, demolishing the 13-game record set by Chelsea in 2016/17. The streak also beat Arsenal's 14-game run of wins which was split across the end of the 2001/02 season and the start of 2002/03.

CITY TOTAL: 902

PREVIOUS RECORD: 843

PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Man City

The 902 passes achieved against Chelsea in March's 1-0 win, was a new Premier League record, surpassing the total set by Guardiola's side in October against West Brom. Ilkay Gundogan's 167 successful passes and 181 touches from the same game were also Premier League records.

GAMES TO PLAY WITH TITLE WON

CITY TOTAL: 5

PREVIOUS RECORD: 5

PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Manchester United (2000/01)

The United side of 2000/01 held the previous record for winning the title with the highest number of games remaining, being crowned champions with five fixtures to play after a title-winning 4-2 victory over Coventry at Old Trafford. City have matched that record.

RECORDS STILL TO BREAK

MOST WINS

CITY TOTAL: 28

CURRENT RECORD: 30

RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea (2016/17)

City are on course to record more wins than any other club in a Premier League season, having already won 28 en route to their coronation.

The current record holders are Antonio Conte's Chelsea last term with 30, but City will only need to win two of their last five games to match the Blues - and three to set a new record.

MOST AWAY WINS

CITY TOTAL: 14

CURRENT RECORD: 15

RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea (2004/05)

City have won 14 of their 17 away fixtures, dropping points at Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Burnley.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side of 2004/05 hold the current record of 15 away wins. However, City will break this record if they win both of their remaining away games against West Ham and Southampton.

MOST POINTS

CITY TOTAL: 87

CURRENT RECORD: 95

RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea (2004/05)

The same Chelsea side also hold the record for most points in a season with 95. Again, City are on course to snatch this record from Mourinho's list of accolades.

In fact, Guardiola's side still have another 15 points up for grabs and five successive wins would take their tally to a remarkable 102 points.

MOST AWAY POINTS

CITY TOTAL: 44

CURRENT RECORD: 48

RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea (2004/05)

Chelsea collected 48 points on the road during 2004/05 and Guardiola will snatch another record from Mourinho if City win both of their remaining away games - a win and a draw would match the record.

MOST GOALS SCORED

CITY TOTAL: 93

CURRENT RECORD: 103

RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea (2009/10)

Chelsea scored 103 goals during their title-winning season in 2009/10 under Carlo Ancelotti, which equates to 2.7 goals per game on average.

Under Guardiola's stewardship, City are on track to surpass Chelsea's. They need 11 goals from the last five matches at a rate of 2.2 per game to break the record.

GOAL DIFFERENCE

CITY TOTAL: +68

CURRENT RECORD: +71

RECORD HOLDER: Chelsea (2009/10)

The same Chelsea side ended the season with a record +71 goal difference, boosted by 29 goals from top goalscorer Didier Drogba.

City are almost certainly set to surpass this record with a current goal difference of +68 - having faced a league-low 77 shots on target and conceded a league-low 25 goals.

POINTS AHEAD OF SECOND

CITY TOTAL: 16

CURRENT RECORD: 18

RECORD HOLDER: Manchester United (1999/00)

Manchester United ended the 1999/00 campaign 18 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal, despite winning only 28 of their fixtures.

City currently command a 16-point lead over United so this record is also in their sights if they can finish the season stronger than their great rivals.
