Josh Dacres-Cogley has signed a new contract to keep him at Birmingham City until 2020, having impressed Gianfranco Zola.

Zola has brought in a host of new faces at St Andrew's since taking over as manager in December, including former Middlesbrough right-back Emilio Nsue, but the Birmingham boss has shown faith in Dacres-Cogley while allowing club stalwarts Jonathan Spector and Paul Caddis to leave in January.

Dacres-Cogley has kept his starting role as full-back despite Nsue's arrival though, and the 21-year-old has been rewarded for his impressive showings with a new three-and-a-half-year contract at the club.

The Blues academy product, who has made just seven first-team appearances, is seen as one of the best athletes within the club and captained their under-23 side last season.
