Former West Brom defender Joleon Lescott believes Darren Moore should be the club's next permanent manager following Alan Pardew's departure.
Pardew left by mutual consent in April and Moore was given temporary charge until the end of the season.
However, in his four games at the helm, Moore has managed to go unbeaten, winning two and drawing two, proving he could be worthy of the manager's job full-time.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Lescott said: "I think the players have responded to him [Moore], I know he is a passionate guy in regards to coaching, he loves the club.
"He has got a lot of affiliation there with them and if the majority of the players are willing to stay then there would be no better candidate than Darren Moore to take control."
Moore's side beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday at St. James' Park which resulted in them living to fight another day in the Premier League.
The Baggies are five points off safety and it will still be a tall ask if they are to manage a great escape despite recent form.
"I think he's [Moore] has done a great job and gave himself a fantastic opportunity to get the job full-time manager next season," added Lescott, who played for Manchester City from 2009-2014.
"But I think it's going to be very difficult due to the fact they can only probably catch one team outside the bottom three. It is going to be difficult for the other teams not to gain any more points for West Brom to avoid relegation."
