Stoke are looking to boost their squad in the January transfer window, according to chairman Peter Coates.

Stoke sit just outside the Premier League relegation zone in 17th and manager Mark Hughes is under increasing pressure to get some positive results and steer his team away from relegation danger.

"It is our intention to improve the squad during the January window. We will definitely try and strengthen," Coates told Stoke Sentinel, with the club having won just one of their last eight games.

In the last January window, 24-year-old Saido Berahino was Stoke's most significant addition, signing from West Bromwich Albion for £15m.
