Burton boss Nigel Clough is set to make a number of changes for his side's Carabao Cup clash with Burnley.

Jake Buxton and John Brayford are both pushing to return for Albion having not featured for a number of weeks due to injury. Kyle McFadzean is suspended while Devante Cole will also miss the match due to being cup-tied.

Clough also has goalkeeping issues with Brad Collins and Stephen Bywater both still injured and Harry Campbell struggling with a bout of flu.

Steven Defour is set to return to the Burnley side after almost nine months out due to injury. The Belgium international has not played for the Clarets since January after undergoing knee surgery.

But having successfully negotiated a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday, he has been added to the squad. Ben Gibson is definitely out as he faces a minor hernia operation, while boss Sean Dyche has stated his intention to shuffle his starting line-up.

This is only the third ever meeting between Burton Albion and Burnley - the Clarets have won both previous encounters, scoring nine goals across those games.

Burnley won their only previous League Cup match against Burton in August 2011, winning 6-3 at Turf Moor with Jay Rodriguez scoring four goals.
