Sky Sports News HQ's Jim White has been told by Harry Redknapp that he will not be retiring, despite resigning as QPR boss.
Redknapp's decision to quit Loftus Road comes less than 24 hours after the January transfer window slammed shut, citing health problems as the reasons behind his exit.
QPR have struggled for form especially away from home but despite their lowly Premier League position, the 67-year-old's departure came as a surprise on Tuesday.
Regardless of his advancing years, Redknapp insisted that he has no plans to give up on management just yet.
"Harry stressed to me that once he gets surgery done on one or both knees, he will be back," White told Sky Sports News HQ.
"In Harry's words, he said there is no way I am giving up football. Even at 67 years old, he will not be calling it a day."
Redknapp was reportedly very unhappy with the lack of transfer activity at Loftus Road in January, but was adamant that the reasons are purely down to his health concerns.
"Lack of dealings is nothing to do with this decision to quit today. His problems are with his knees," White added.
"He feels he needs one or maybe two knee replacements, and that is why he has resigned.
"He woke up early this morning and decided enough is enough.
"Tony Fernandes sympathised with him, and understood his reasons.
"Harry told me he is more and more embarrassed by not being able to be active on the training ground and on match days."
