Craig Shakespeare says Demarai Gray has a future at Leicester City amid interest from Premier League rivals Everton.

Sky sources understand the former Birmingham City winger, who joined Leicester in January 2016 and was part of the squad that won the Premier League title at the end of that season under Claudio Ranieri, is an Everton target.

The 21-year-old made 30 Premier League appearances last season, but only nine of those were starts, and he scored his only league goal for the club in the 4-1 defeat at Manchester United.

But Shakespeare said Gray needs to remain patient, telling Sky Sports News HQ: "He's definitely still wanted. He's a player with great potential.

"I've had numerous conversations over the last four months with Demarai about being patient. I understand that sometimes that can just be words and they need to playing but he has a big future to be played here.

"He's one, with our staff, he's very well thought of but we understand the frustrations. It's up to us to make sure they are given the opportunities and to make sure they are aware of how highly valued they are."

Gray is well known to Everton director of football Steve Walsh from his time at the King Power Stadium.
