Bury v Southend preview
Monday 12 February 2018 17:11, UK
Bury boss Ryan Lowe may replace Nathan Cameron with Adam Thompson in his defence against Southend.
Cameron was drafted into the Shakers' side for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bradford but has not played two games in four days all season due to a long-standing knee issue. Thompson was the only player to drop out of Lowe's team from the side that beat AFC Wimbledon.
Bury remain without long-term absentees Craig Jones (thigh), Jermaine Beckford (knee) and Eoghan O'Connell (ruptured ligaments).
Southend manager Chris Powell has no fresh injury concerns ahead of his side's trip to. Powell, whose side have won their last three matches, will be looking to build on an impressive 3-1 victory against table-toppers Wigan on Saturday.
Defender John White (ankle) remains absent, while Sam Mantom, on loan from Scunthorpe until the end of the season, is working his way back to full fitness after an ankle problem. Midfielders Anthony Wordsworth (calf) and Josh Wright (hamstring) continue their rehabilitation, along with centre-back Rob Kiernan (knee).
Opta stats
Bury have won just one of their last five home matches against Southend in all competitions (D2 L2), losing 4-1 the last time they hosted them in November 2016 and never keeping a clean sheet in those five games.
The Shrimpers have won each of their last three league meetings with the Shakers, winning both of the last two by a 1-0 score line; they have never beaten them in four consecutive Football League clashes.
Since a run of eight consecutive defeats in all competitions, Bury are unbeaten in four matches (W2 D2), drawing 2-2 with Bradford last time out.
Southend midfielder Stephen McLaughlin has scored two goals in his last three appearances against the Shakers. Of all the other EFL sides he has faced, Gillingham are the only other side against whom he has netted more than once (also two goals) in league action.
