Peterborough vs Charlton preview
Friday 25 January 2019 11:14, UK
Peterborough are without suspended defender Ryan Tafazolli, who is serving a three match ban for his red card against Luton.
Their unsuccessful appeal against his suspension will force manager Steve Evans into further changes, following successive defeats. Luke McGee, Oli Hawkins and Nathan Thompson are all expected to miss out through injury.
Peterborough also this week sanctioned the departures of Mark O'Hara and Colin Daniel, who respectively left for Lincoln on loan and Burton on a permanent basis.
Charlton are similarly without influential striker Lyle Taylor, who is suspended following his red card in last week's 1-0 victory over Accrington. They had appealed against his red card, but unlike Accrington with goalkeeper Jonny Maxted over the same incident, were unsuccessful.
In his absence, Tariqe Fosu and Ben Reeves are pushing to start. Jason Pearce remains sidelined with a foot injury.
Opta stats
After losing five successive league games against Charlton, Peterborough are unbeaten in their last six league games versus the Addicks (W4 D2), winning each of the last two.
Peterborough have won each of their last two home league games against Charlton, this after failing to pick up a win in their first five (D3 L2).
Peterborough haven't lost three consecutive matches across all competitions since April 2018 (four straight defeats).
Charlton have scored more League One goals from set-piece scenarios (20) than any other side, including nine from corners and nine penalties, both league highs.
Peterborough have scored more headed goals (12) than any other side in League One this season, with four of their last seven goals in the competition being headed.
Prutton's prediction
Peterborough looked like automatic promotion contenders earlier in the season but have lacked consistency in the last couple of months.
They could also slip out of the play-off places if they are beaten by Charlton, who are in excellent form and could pose a threat to the top two themselves. That being said, I think this will be a draw.
David Prutton predicts: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)
