Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has been named the Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month for September.

The Dons won three of their four matches during the month - against Celtic, Hamilton and Hearts - to maintain their place at the top of the table.

McInnes, who won the award for the second successive month, has seen his side lose their last three matches - one in the league cup and two in the league - but they still boast a one-point cushion at the summit over Celtic ahead of the weekend fixtures.

The 44-year-old, who takes his side to Ross County on Friday evening, is attempting to guide the club to their first Scottish top-flight title since they won back-to-back championships in 1984 and 1985.

Aberdeen's Niall McGinn says it has been a magnificent start to the season as his side sit top of the Scottish Premiership.

Following speculation over Scotland boss Gordon Strachan's future, Aberdeen were forced to issue a statement insisting their manager was 'going nowhere' after he was linked with a move away from Pittodrie on Thursday.
