Nabil Fekir has revealed his next move will be to a club outside of France, although the forward is not thinking about leaving Lyon and plans to stay put and help the club with a testing season.

The 22-year-old, who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, came to prominence alongside last season’s Ligue 1 top-scorer Alexandre Lacazette in a young strikeforce which fired Lyon to a serious title challenge and a place in the Champions League for the coming campaign.

Speculation inevitably linked both players with the eventual champions PSG - and while Fekir admitted he did not know what the future would hold, he insisted a move away from the Stade de Gerland was not in his thoughts for the time being.

"This season I have to back up what I have done,” he told France Football. "I have to do everything I can to continue progressing.

"There is also the Champions League. I want to give back to OL what the club has given me.

"To be frank, I would prefer an experience overseas after OL."

Lyon's preparation for the new campaign has been indifferent to say the least, with their only pre-season win coming against AC Milan amid defeats to Sion and PSV Eindhoven in the Valais Cup, Arsenal and Villarreal in the Emirates Cup and PSG in the curtain-raising Trophy of Champions.

“It will be a more difficult season with a lot more matches,” Fekir added. “We have to prepare ourselves well - but the squad is ready to meet these challenges.

"It is exciting that most of us are discovering this - playing in the Champions League, at the top of Ligue 1 and in a fabulous new stadium. It is not so long ago that we dreamed of all that."
