Lionel Messi has topped the Sky Sports La Liga Power Rankings for a sixth matchday running.

The Argentine was rested during a 1-1 draw at Espanyol on Sunday, coming on as a 60th-minute substitute and assisting Gerard Pique's late equaliser.

Strike partner Luis Suarez slipped one place to No 3 in the chart after a goalless evening - ending a remarkable scoring streak of 11 goals in eight successive league games.

Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas netted a late consolation during a 2-1 defeat at Alaves - his 15th league goal this term to climb above Suarez and claim the runner-up spot this week.

Real Sociedad showed few signs of missing centre-back Inigo Martinez, who joined Athletic Bilbao to replace Manchester City-bound Aymeric Laporte - by thrashing Deportivo 5-0 at Estadio Anoeta.

Midfielder Asier Illarramendi soared 59 places into the No 4 spot after scoring twice during the rout, while fellow goalscorer Willian Jose climbed nine places to reach No 6.

Eibar maintained their fine form with a 5-1 victory over Sevilla - moving up to seventh in La Liga and within a point of their hosts - with Orellana, Anaitz Arbilla and Kike all getting on the scoresheet to make the Power Rankings top 10.
