Javier Mascherano to sign Barcelona deal until 2019

Barcelona have announced that Javier Mascherano will sign a contract extension on Monday.

It was confirmed earlier in the summer that Mascherano would be staying at the Nou Camp amid reported interest from Juventus.

And he will now put pen to paper on a new three-year deal that will keep him with Barcelona until 2019.

A short statement from the Catalan club read: "FC Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano, long a key element in the team's unprecedented run of success, will have his contract extended for two more seasons beyond the one currently underway. The signing is set to take place on Monday, 17 October at 1.00pm CET at the club's offices."

Mascherano has made almost 300 appearances for Barcelona since joining from Liverpool in 2010 and during which time he has helped the club win four La Liga titles and the Champions League twice.

It has been reported that Neymar could be next to follow Mascherano in signing a new deal with the club.
