Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has been ruled out for three weeks with a thigh injury.

The 22-year-old suffered the problem while on international duty with France and will miss the World Cup Qualifier against Sweden on Friday.

He is also likely to be unavailable for Barcelona's La Liga clash with Malaga or their Champions League trip to Celtic.

However, he could be in contention for El Clasico against Real Madrid on December 3.

A short statement from Barca on Thursday said: "First team player Samuel Umtiti has a rupture to the femoral biceps muscle of his left thigh.

"This was determined following tests carried out on Thursday. The injury is expected to keep him out for approximately three weeks."

Umtiti has impressed for Barcelona after joining in the summer from Lyon, but the Catalans will now have to shuffle their backline.
