Diego Simeone has warned his Atletico Madrid side their Champions League quarter-final clash with Leicester is far from finished and will go down to the wire.

The La Liga side face the Foxes on Tuesday defending a 1-0 quarter final first-leg lead following last week's narrow victory at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Atletico are favourites but former Argentina midfielder Simeone has urged caution going into the game at the King Power Stadium and is well aware of the Premier League champions upturn in form under Craig Shakespeare.

"Leicester are in decent form and have been very close to getting back to their best in the last six or seven games," Simeone said.

"Our characteristics are very similar, we are not too different in the way we play. It'll be a very tight game, the first leg was a narrow result and Tuesday will be no different. It will be decided on the smallest of details."

Kevin Gameiro could return after missing the first game with a groin problem but doubts remain whether the forward is fit enough to start with Fernando Torres waiting in the wings to continue his partnership up front with Antoine Griezmann.

France international Griezmann - linked with a summer move to Manchester United - won the first leg with a controversial penalty and Simeone believes he still has the ability to shine if Leicester have any special plans to stop the 26-goal forward.

He said: "It has never happened where we have faced an opponent who has given him special treatment and been man-marked.

"If it did, I am sure the type of footballer he is and the ability he has, he would find a way to resolve that situation and find a solution.
