Bayer Leverkusen moved up to fifth place in the Bundesliga after claiming their fourth straight win with a 2-0 success against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The home side controlled the game against their mid-table opponents and went in front after 18 minutes when Kai Havertz converted a chance from close range.

The visitors had few chances to get back into the game and Leon Bailey wrapped up the points for Leverkusen in the 66th minute.

Denis Zakaria fired a late equaliser as Borussia Monchengladbach kept their grip on third place with a 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The visitors had looked set to be heading for their second straight defeat after Danny Da Costa put the hosts in front in first-half added time.

Monchengladbach, who had crashed to a 3-0 home defeat against Hertha Berlin last weekend, struggled to find a way through against their resolute opponents.
