Timmy Simons has parted company with PSV Eindhoven and penned a two-year contract with Nurnberg.

Timmy Simons has parted company with PSV Eindhoven and penned a two-year contract with Nurnberg.

The Belgium international moves to Germany for an undisclosed fee and is looking forward to a fresh challenge.

The 33-year-old has spent the last five years in Holland and feels a change of scenery will help to reinvigorate his career.

He said: "We have been in talks for a long time.

"The mission, as described to me, is to be an experienced player in a young team. This is a great attraction to me."

Nurnberg boss Dieter Hecking is delighted to have secured the defender's signature and hopes Simons will play a leading role in the club's efforts to steer clear of trouble in the Bundesliga.

"We have always said we want to commit to this very important position a player with experience," he said.

"I think that we have achieved that with Timmy's signing."
