Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler enjoyed pitting his wits against Watford

Martin Tyler enjoyed the "very special" experience of being in the Woking dugout for their FA Cup third-round defeat to Watford on Sunday.

Tyler, best known to most football fans as a Sky Sports commentator, became an unpaid member of the club's coaching staff in May following the appointment of manager Alan Dowson.

He is a lifelong Woking fan and was alongside Dowson for the visit of Watford.

Unfortunately for Tyler, the lowest ranked team left in the tournament could not cause an upset as goals in either half saw them beaten by the Premier League side.

"When I set out for here today I wanted to go home feeling good about this side that is very special to me," Tyler told Sky Sports.

"It's well away from what you know and what everybody knows that I do and I am privileged to have these two worlds.

"I am a commentator first and foremost and I think the coaching has gone up a notch today! Javi Gracia was five yards away from me for the whole 90 minutes and I had a little chat with him about how he keeps so calm during matches.

"It's great, a bit of virtual reality, but the reality is that we are out of the FA Cup."

Watford will learn their fourth-round opponents in the FA Cup draw on Monday evening.
