Ched Evans will serve a two-match suspension for using abusive and/or insulting words towards the match referee after Fleetwood Town's Sky Bet League One match against Bristol Rovers last month.
The incident occurred during Fleetwood's 2-1 defeat at The Memorial Stadium on December 22, when Evans, who had already been booked in the match, was shown a straight red card in the 55th minute for an aerial challenge on Tom Lockyer.
Referee Brett Huxtable also issued nine yellow cards, six of them to Fleetwood, whose manager Joey Barton was sent off after a late melee following James Clarke's stoppage-time winner, which involved players and staff from both teams.
Evans denied the charge but it was subsequently found proven by an Independent Regulatory Commission. He has also been fined £2,500.
The striker will now miss Fleetwood's games against Oxford United and Rochdale.
