Brad Friedel told Goals on Sunday that he is looking forward to retirement after hanging up his gloves following a career spanning three decades.
The former Blackburn, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Spurs goalkeeper says he will leave England with fond memories, but is also excited about what the future holds for him and his family.
Friedel joined Tottenham in 2011, but has been back-up to Hugo Lloris since the Frenchman's arrival the following year.
Friedel, who holds the record streak of 310 consecutive Premier League starts, has 12 months remaining on his pro license.
He is also set to become an analyst, pundit and co-commentator for Fox Sports as well as coaching the Under 20 national team and has agreed to become a global ambassador for Tottenham.
"It's got to end sometime," Friedel told Ben and Kammy. "When I got the opportunity to come to Tottenham and the players they had in the squad - I was 40 years of age - and my wife and I were thinking should I call it a day then and more than likely move back to the states.
"But I said getting the opportunity to play again at such a great club like Tottenham, I had to give it a go, so we came down.
"I really did think it was going to be a one stroke, two season event. They were looking for a long-term number one goalkeeper and a 40-year-old isn't going to be your long-term guy.
"They found one in Hugo Lloris, but as it transpired I started doing my coaching.
"To be truthfully honest I could probably carry on again because my body doesn't feel any different.
"I'm 44-years-old tomorrow (Monday) and you can't complain about a career like that. I've had a fond affection with all the fans.
"Blackburn was probably the longest - it was an incredible club.
"I'll be finishing my pro license. I have about 12 months to run on that so I'll be back and forth and obviously with the tie with Tottenham I'll try and come back as much as possible.
"I'll also love to go back to Liverpool, Villa and Blackburn at some stage as the years go by because I really did have a great time at each of those clubs."
