Mackail-Smith brace seals win

Peterborough stretched their League One unbeaten run to 11 games after a double from Craig Mackail-Smith helped them beat Hereford 2-0. Posh failed to hit top gear and had goalkeeper Joe Lewis to thank for a superb early one-handed save when the England Under-21 international kept out a storming header from substitute Dean Beckwith. A replacement for Bruno N'Gotty, who was stretchered off after five minutes, Beckwith was centre of attention at the opposite end when he was adjudged to have handled as he tried to beat Mackail-Smith to a driven cross from Aaron Mclean. Beckwith and team-mate Kris Taylor were booked for dissent before Mackail-Smith saw his 34th-minute penalty saved by Darren Randolph, although Posh's top scorer was able to slot home the rebound. Hereford pressed and Lewis saved well from Bradley Hudson-Odoi and Toumani Diagouraga before Mackail-Smith (68) headed his second of the game and 12th of the season from George Boyd's cross.
