Walsall were relegated from League One after a final-day goalless draw at Shrewsbury.
Chances were in short supply at both ends in the first half. James Bolton was closest to a breakthrough for Shrewsbury when his header from Ollie Norburn's corner was cleared off the line.
Walsall forced several corners just before half-time and one of them ended with Andy Cook looping a header off target. Joe Edwards fired narrowly wide for the Saddlers from the edge of the penalty area early in the second half.
Midfielder Edwards then went close again when his low shot was pushed away by goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell. Bolton headed wide at the other end before Tyrese Campbell was denied by visiting goalkeeper Chris Dunn.
Walsall's best chance fell to Nicky Devlin five minutes from time, but Mitchell came racing off his line to block.
Substitute Josh Laurent then went close to a late winner for Shrewsbury - who ended the season in 18th, two points clear of the bottom four - when his curling effort was well kept out by Dunn.
