Stockport managed their first win in 10 games as goals from Matt Paterson and Anthony Elding earned a 2-1 home win over Bury.
Debutant Paterson, who arrived on loan from Southend this week, tested Cameron Belford in the Bury goal twice in the opening minutes, and his all-action game saw the home side's confidence grow as the half progressed, culminating in two gilt-edged chances for Adam Griffin. The Shakers briefly came to life just before the break when both Andy Bishop and Efe Sodje managed to miss with close-range headers in consecutive attacks, but it was County who continued to pressurise a disjointed Bury side into the second half. Their just reward came on 66 minutes when Paterson' s strike from the edge of the area hit the target via Belford's out-stretched arm. With the Hatters on top it came as no surprise when Elding increased the lead from close range with six minutes to go, although Ryan Lowe did pull a consolation back for the visitors in the dying minutes when he lashed into the roof of the net.
