Walsall 2-1 Plymouth

Plymouth defender Ryan Edwards scored on his return from beating testicular cancer but Argyle still lost 2-1 at Walsall.

Edwards - given the all-clear in April after being diagnosed in January - put Plymouth ahead late in the first half but Andy Cook quickly levelled and Luke Leahy's free-kick won it for Walsall.

Walsall began well and Josh Ginnelly sprinted 70 yards to thread in Morgan Ferrier after two minutes but he was denied by debutant Argyle keeper Matt Macey.

Plymouth grew into the game and took the lead in the 40th minute when Edwards steered home Conor Grant's far-post free-kick.

Walsall levelled five minutes later as Joe Riley brought down Ferrier in the box and Cook slammed home the rebound after Macey had tipped his penalty onto the bar.

Saddlers defender Jack Fitzwater looped an early second-half header onto the bar before Leahy's fine 25-yard free-kick put Walsall ahead in the 64th minute.
