Former Everton and Manchester United coach Steve Round is set to join the backroom staff at Derby on a part-time basis.
Former Rams full-back Round, who has worked with Derby head coach Steve McClaren in the past, will be offered a return to his old club.
"Roundy is not working at present," said McClaren.
"He's got a good relationship with myself and Derby County, so we might just use him for the odd day or two to help us on the training field.
"Me and Simmo (first-team coach Paul Simpson) have been looking for that.
"We might just offer him that role of a couple of days. He is a top-quality coach."
Round has worked at Manchester United, Everton, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and England - the latter two under McClaren.
He and McClaren were also part of Derby's backroom staff between 1995 and 1999 under Jim Smith.
