Rayo Vallecano climbed out of the La Liga relegation zone for the first time this season with a 1-0 win at Alaves on Monday.
Raul de Tomas' second-half header proved enough as Rayo claimed their fourth win in their last five league matches.
The result lifts Rayo above Celtic Vigo into 17th in the Primera Division, two points clear of the relegation zone, which is also occupied by Villarreal and Huesca.
Playing in the first division for the first time since the 2015/16 season, Rayo had been among the bottom three since the first round of fixtures.
Alaves, meanwhile, stay fifth in the table, four points adrift of fourth-placed Sevilla after their first home defeat of the campaign.
