Burnley v Crystal Palace preview: Steven Defour to return
Saturday 5 November 2016 15:29, UK
Crystal Palace will look to snap a run of three straight Premier League defeats when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Alan Pardew's men are without a victory in four games and, along with Sunderland, are the only team not to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season.
They'll face a tough task against Sean Dyche's men, who have ran further than their opponents in all 10 Premier League matches so far this season - the only team to have done so in every game.
Furthermore, the Clarets have lost just two of their last 19 league matches at home.
Team news
Dyche is ready to welcome back Steven Defour from injury.
Defour has been absent for Burnley's last two games after a hamstring injury forced him off during a 3-1 defeat at Southampton last month.
Stephen Ward will miss his first Premier League game of the season after picking up a hamstring strain in the Clarets' 0-0 draw at Manchester United last Saturday.
Bakary Sako is an injury doubt for Crystal Palace.
The forward suffered a minor groin strain in training on Thursday and will be assessed.
Loic Remy (thigh), Pape Souare (broken leg) and Jonathan Benteke (knee) remain long-term injury absentees.
Opta stats
Burnley have won just one of their last six league games against Crystal Palace (D2 L3), including neither of the two Premier League meetings between them (D1 L1).
Crystal Palace's 3-2 victory at Turf Moor in 2014/15 ended a run of seven trips there without a win in league competition (D4 L3), while they have never previously won back-to-back away games at Burnley.
These two sides have met on six occasions in the top flight, with Burnley winning four of those clashes (D1 L1). All four of the Clarets' victories came between 1969 and 1971, however.
Crystal Palace have kept just two clean sheets in 21 visits to face Burnley in all competitions.
Dyche's side have allowed their opponents 52 more shots on target (71) than they have attempted themselves (19) this season in the Premier League - the biggest differential in the competition.
If matches ended at half-time this season, Crystal Palace would be bottom of the league with just six points (W1 D3 L6).
Merson's prediction
Burnley have had a great couple of results against Everton and Manchester United and I think they'll win again here. They get dominated a lot but Crystal Palace are on one of those runs now, they generally win six in a row or lose six in a row and they've now lost their last three.
It will be hard for Burnley to stay up, they're hard to beat but will have to do what they did against United every week until May. They've got to win their home games, so for me it's a must-win game this weekend.
Paul predicts: 2-1 (10/1 with Sky Bet)
Betting
Crystal Palace are Sky Bet's 13/10 favourites for the victory as Burnley go up against odds of 11/5, the same price as a draw. Sean Dyche's men are currently 10/11 third favourites for relegation while the Eagles are given a 12/1 chance of facing the drop.
Christian Benteke heads the first goalscorer betting at 9/2, with Andre Gray is rated the hosts' main threat at 6/1 to net first.
