Davey set to tinker; trio doubtful for Magpies

Notts County can wrap up the League Two title when Steve Cotterill's side travel to already-relegated Darlington on Tuesday night. Darlington captain Ian Miller will sit out the visit of the leaders as he requires surgery to resolve a double hernia problem. Miller has missed the last two matches and will not feature again this term, but Quakers manager Simon Davey is expected to recall midfielder Mark Convery after the winger replaced Nathan Mulligan in Saturday's home defeat to Grimsby. Teenage midfielder John McReady, 17, hopes to feature again after making his first-team debut off the substitutes' bench on Saturday. Davey has no new injury or suspension problems, but is likely to continue tinkering with his line-up. Defender Paul Arnison (hamstring) is not expected to return after missing out in recent matches, while teenage striker Curtis Main (ankle) and Gareth Waite (knee) will also be missing after surgery.

    Magpies news

County, who lost for the first time under manager Steve Cotterill at the weekend, have injury concerns over three key players for the game. Influential midfielder Ben Davies and leading scorer Lee Hughes, who have both been named in the PFA team of the year, and defender John Thompson were all forced off during the defeat at Port Vale on Saturday. Should Davies and Hughes miss out, Cotterill has several options. Luke Rodgers and Craig Westcarr ended the game at Vale Park as the two strikers and are likely to be partnered in attack against the Quakers. However, Cotterill also has Delroy Facey, Karl Hawley and Ade Akinbiyi available. If Westcarr plays in a central attacking role, Jamie Clapham could start on the left side of midfield, while the possible absence of Davies could mean a rare start for Matt Hamshaw. Victory would see Notts crowned champions as they would move seven points clear of second-placed Rochdale with just two matches remaining.
