Pep Guardiola, though, knows the Goodison Park trip will be tough, having lost 4-0 there in 2017.

"Goodison Park is always a tough game for us," he said. "We'll go there, try and make a good performance and win the game and, of course, we have the chance because Liverpool don't play to go top.

"It was a long time ago that we lost there. I don't go thinking about the first year, we made an exceptional performance there in the second year. Every game is completely different.

"I feel we are much better than last season because we have had more time together but at the same time we will see tomorrow the desire with which we are going to play the game."

Everton are in desperate need of a good result after six defeats in their last nine league matches, but manager Silva does not want to get involved in Premier League title race debate.

"It is not for us to look to that (title) fight. We know what is our fight. For sure our fans want our team to win the game. That is the most important thing," he said.

"It is not just two teams are fighting for the title. There are many games to play. Nothing will be decided tomorrow in our game against City. We have to look to ourselves and what our aim is for the match."

Man City are still without captain Vincent Kompany. The Belgium defender has been out for the last month with a muscular problem and there is no timescale on his return.

Claudio Bravo (Achilles) is a long-term casualty and Benjamin Mendy is being eased back after knee surgery but City otherwise have a fully-fit squad.

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye returns from a groin injury. The Senegal international, who saw a deadline-day bid from PSG rejected, is likely to go straight back into the side, which will miss Phil Jagielka (knock) and Yerry Mina (foot).

Leighton Baines (rib) is likely to miss out but first-choice left-back Lucas Digne returns from suspension.
