Gillingham and Shrewsbury are 90 minutes away from League One as they meet in the League Two play-off final at Wembley on Saturday. The Gills booked their place in the final after overcoming Rochdale, while the Shrews edged past Bury on penalties. Mark Stimson's side are looking to bounce back into English football's third tier at the first attempt, while Paul Simpson's Shrewsbury have been in the basement division or below since 1997.

Gills team news

Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller missed both legs of the semi-final win over Rochdale with an ankle injury, but has returned to full fitness and is in contention for a spot in the squad. Stimson seems likely to stick with the side which started both legs against Dale, so the best Miller can seemingly hope for is a spot on the bench. That would mean one of Nicky Southall or Albert Jarrett likely suffering Wembley heartbreak and being left out of the matchday 16 altogether. The squad includes five players with Wembley experience in the shape of Southall, who played for the Gills on their two visits to the old stadium, while Miller, John Nutter, Barry Fuller and Alan Julian were part of the Stevenage side - managed by Stimson - which won the FA Trophy two years ago. Stimson's side are bidding to bounce straight back to League One at the first attempt after being relegated last season, but face a tough task against a Shrewsbury side who beat them 7-0 back in September.
Shrews team news
Simpson will be forced to make one change to his match-day 16 after Steve Leslie was sent off in the semi-final second leg against Bury. The substitute midfielder was shown a straight red card just a minute into extra time at Gigg Lane meaning he will miss the trip to Wembley. Shrews initially announced their intention to appeal the decision but decided against it feeling there was not enough evidence to support a claim. Defender Mike Jackson, who has been sidelined since February, has not recovered in time from his knee injury, while striker Dave Hibbert has suffered a recurrence of a foot problem and will also miss out, although he has been a peripheral figure of late. Otherwise Simpson has a fully-fit squad and he insists his players have given him everything and more in the build-up to the highly-anticipated final. "The preparations have been great leading up to it," he said. "We're getting most people out fit. Everybody wants to be involved and I have to say they've done everything they possibly can to make it difficult for me to pick a 16 out of it. "It means a lot to everybody - the county, the town, the football club - every single person who's connected with it will benefit from us getting promoted to League One. And we've got to do all we possibly can to try and achieve that."
