Tony Adams lost his first game in charge of Granada after Celta Vigo claimed a 3-0 win in Sunday's La Liga clash.

On-loan Fulham striker Jozabed put the visitors ahead after 22 minutes with a brilliant chip over the advancing Guillermo Ochoa.

The match was lacking in quality, but Marcelo Diaz produced a moment of brilliance when he curled a fantastic free-kick over the wall and into the top corner after 73 minutes.

Then, just three minutes later, Claude Beauvue was on hand to tap in from close-range, after Theo Bongonda hammered the inside of the post with a stinging drive.

Former Arsenal and England captain Adams was appointed manager on Monday, replacing the sacked Lucas Alcaraz, with Granada 19th in La Liga.

Having lost five of their previous six matches, Granada would have felt confident of ending that wretched run when they saw the Celta teamsheet, which included 10 changes following their midweek Europa League trip.

And it was Granada who started brightly, the best chance falling to Ezequiel Ponce, but his shot was poor and wide of the mark.

Eleven different nationalities made up the Granada starting team and a breakdown in communication was obvious, when Wakaso Murbarak lost a challenge and Beauvue slid a ball into the path of Jozabed and the striker's deft finish was expertly taken.

It was a scrappy game, as the animated Adams gestured to his men frantically from the touchline in hope of a response.

After the break, whatever messaged had been conveyed back to the players appeared to do the trick, as his side looked far more urgent, as Andreas Pereira grew into the game.

The midfielder, on loan from Manchester United, was full of energy and one mazy run nearly saw Ponce equalise, before the Belgian had a curling shot saved by Sergio Alvarez.

Uche Agbo smashed an effort onto the underside of the crossbar, as the hosts began to turn on the pressure, but it was as close as they would get before Celta turned on the style.

After a free-kick was awarded outside the area, Diaz stood over the ball, before curling a peach of a strike into the top corner, despite the best efforts of Ochoa.

Minutes later, Granada had completely imploded, as Bongonda sprinted clear and his strike was well hit, but cannoned off the post and into Beauvue, who got the goal his performance deserved - which condemned Granada to their 20th league defeat of a woeful campaign.
