FA and Mark Sampson deny fresh Eniola Aluko claims

The FA and women's team head coach Mark Sampson both strongly deny new claims of discriminatory behaviour against former striker Eniola Aluko, Sky Sports News understands.

In a new interview, Aluko has made a new allegation against Sampson claiming that he made a derogatory remark about members of her family visiting from Nigeria.

Aluko also claims she was dropped by England because she spoke up - something the FA also denies.

An independent inquiry last week found that Sampson had no case to answer against initial claims that he made racially insensitive remark towards the player during her time with the team.

The 30-year-old, who scored 33 goals in over 100 appearances for England, made claims of bullying and harassment against Sampson and other members of his coaching staff last year.

Responding to Aluko's latest interview, anti-racism group Kick It Out released a statement calling for an independent review.

It read: "Kick It Out notes on record the new revelations made by Eni Aluko, outside of the confidentiality agreement, which throw new light onto the allegations of alleged racist behaviour by England Women's National Team manager Mark Sampson and the culture within the coaching set-up.

"This is contrary to the statement by The Football Association made last week, in which they made clear her allegations did not have any substance. The situation regarding this is now one of utter confusion with claims and counter-claims.

"Kick It Out urges The FA to undertake a comprehensive and independent review of the processes involved in the original complaint made by Aluko up to the final point of the independent investigation by Katharine Newton QC.

"This is so they can take on board any lessons learned, to remedy any deficiencies identified and to ensure it has an operational culture that treats any individual, whatever their background, equally, fairly and with dignity and respect.

"The FA must ensure a situation like this will never happen again in order to build trust, confidence and credibility."

The Chelsea Ladies striker was not part of the England squad that reached the semi-finals of Women's Euro 2017 and has not played for her country since making the claims.

Aluko has been with Chelsea since 2012 following spells with Birmingham and in the USA with Saint Louis Athletica, Atlanta Beat and Sky Blue FC.
